Jeep Customization FAQ

What are Some Popular Jeep Upgrades?

1. Rocker Armor

Blazing trails full of debris and downed trees, crawling rocks, fording rivers -- Jeep SUVs and trucks do it all. Those obstacles can do a number on a car body, though -- the underbody and the rocker panels, specifically.

Rocker armor can help protect it. Aluminum alloy or steel, powder-coated or not, bolt-on (with no need to do much, if any, drilling or modifying) and otherwise, you options are wide as the horizon.

2. Recovery Equipment

Rescuing a buddy stuck in the mud? Business as usual for a Jeep. Having the right gear for that job? It can make or break a pullout.

First and foremost, you'll need towing accessories, for sure: among them, a trailer coupler and hitch, a ball mount, and a ball, of course. For recovery, though -- a winch, definitely, and one that can pull at least one-and-a-half times your haul's weight, fully loaded. Winches can even be used to temporarily straighten bent steering or suspension links (only if you have to!) until you (or a Mopar service center) can take care of repairs.

3. Bumpers

Your Jeep is bound to take its lumps, on the highway and off the trail. A good set of front and rear bumpers can help absorb a lot of them, keeping shock (and damage) to a minimum.

Options here range from basic ABS to more durable polypropylene and steel, and you can get bumpers with protective aluminum or steel reinforcement bars or without, and with longer overhangs. Many, you can even jack a winch to, and a select few come full-width, spanning the fender-flare area. Be sure to add a bull bar or grille guard for extra shielding.

4. Running Boards

If you drive a lifted Jeep SUV or truck, running boards provide better stepping surfaces than bare door sills, making your ride easier to get into and out of. Stainless steel, cast aluminum, or another durable, load-bearing metal, powder-coated to stand up to corrosion, illuminated with optional LED light kits, powered to extend and retract on their own when the doors are opened or closed -- you've got ample choices.

Whatever the mod, though, what's most important is using genuine OEM parts and accessories for it.

Why Buy OEM Parts and Accessories vs. Aftermarket?

They're genuine Mopar -- Jeep-quality, designed to fit right the first time, and to work better. Unlike with some off-brand knockoffs, they won't void your factory warranty, either.
